DUO-PC : Mobile PC with dual displays DUO-PHONE : Cellular phone with dual displays

duo-pc :
A mobile PC with dual displays.
We use our favorite notebook on the desk and in a mobile enviroment. Then, why do we have to have more than one PC? Using short-range wireless connection and COG technology, a laptop PC will have more flexibility just like paper. This mobile PC has a multiple-layer hinge structure that allows users to open it as one large display on the desk and to use it as a tablet PC and a book browser for mobile use. It adapts to users’ enviroments and situations.
duo-phone :
A cellular phone with dual displays.
“duo-phone” is installed with a detachable display, which enables users to enjoy a videophone in a more natural manner, and a photo sensor adapting the next-generation barcode. It is a next-generation cellular telephone that can be also used as a “duo-pc” mouse and remote control.

NAVE : 360-Degree Visual Communication Device

We have seen video phones hundreds of times in movies. However, why can’t we act naturally in front of videophone cameras? Conventional visual communications at a distance have been limited due to the display devices and terminals. This terminal enables showing of the surrounding atmosphere and group-to-group communication with a round display and a central super-wide-angle camera.

FLACON : Virtual Storage Bottle

We already have the means to store a massive amount of images in our various devices, so many that we cannot possibly see them all in a lifetime. “Flacon” offers the ways to casually enjoy such a volume of visuals. The images emerge on an inorganic electroluminescent display. Among them, images selected according to anniversaries and the user’s emotions are projected outward through a projector.

TAG : Soft-shell Mobile Phone

“tag” is a new, malleable, casual communicator. It is not only soft but also flexible, for example, it can be hung from a belt or wrapped around the user’s arm. Shape-memorizing material and multiple pressure sensors allow the phone to change its shape according to the mode. The user can also alternate the mode by changing the shape.

Games : Algodoo ( New Version of : Phun - 2D physics sandbox )

ALGODOO replaces the ”Phun – 2D physics sandbox” created by Emil Ernerfeldt. "Phun" has had over 1 million downloads, 2 million views on Youtube and over 30 000 shared scenes in the forum.

Algodoo a barrier-breaker, creating a new synergy between science and art.
ALGODOO is a unique 2D-simulation software from Algoryx Simulation AB. Algodoo is designed in a playful, cartoony manner, making it a perfect tool for creating interactive scenes and physical experiments. Algodoo encourages students and children’s own creativity, ability and motivation to construct knowledge. Making it as entertaining as it is educational. Algodoo is also a perfect aid for children to learn and practice physics at home.

  • FUNCTIONALITY - Create and edit using simple drawing tools. Interact by click and drag, tilt and shake. Use color traces, graphs, forces, etc. for enhanced visualization.
  • PHYSICAL ELEMENTS - Build and explore with rigid bodies, fluids, chains, gears, gravity, friction, restitution, springs, hinges, motors, light rays, optics, lenses.
  • USER COMMUNITY - Algodoo has a large and active community, engaging educators, parents and kids. This website enables collaborative authoring of lessons and lecture material. Algodoo also comes with lesson plans for different key stages in education.
  • METHODS - Algodoo is based on the latest technologies, from Algoryx Simultion AB, for interactive multiphysics simulation, including variational mechanical integrators and high performance numerical methods.

Algodoo runs on Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Algodoo is optimized for the Intel® powered convertible Classmate PC and interactive whiteboard systems.

Software : GeoGebra

GeoGebra is an interactive geometry software for education in schools. Most parts of GeoGebra are free software. GeoGebra is written in Java and thus available for multiple platforms.
Its creator, Markus Hohenwarter, started the project in 2001 at the University of Salzburg, continuing it at Florida Atlantic University (2006–2008), Florida State University (2008–2009), and now at the University of Linz together with the help of open-source developers and translators all over the world.

GeoGebra is dynamic geometry software. Constructions can be made with points, vectors, segments, lines, polygons, conic sections, and functions. All of them can be changed dynamically afterwards.
Elements can be entered and modified directly on screen, or through the Input Bar. GeoGebra has the ability to use variables for numbers, vectors and points, find derivatives and integrals of functions and has a full complement of commands like Root or Extremum. Teachers can use GeoGebra to make conjectures and prove geometric theorems.
There is a pool of free educational resources and dynamic worksheets hosted on a wiki (GeoGebraWiki).

The Unique : LED Rubiks Cube

So I can totally see the point of the new Mirror Rubiks cube, since it's a harder, weirder, even more tactile version of the classic...but this LED Magic Cube 2.0 version just leaves me scratching my head. Why make a physical digital pushbutton version of an absolute classic puzzle? Part of the joy of the original was that you could twist and turn it with your fingers, and then heartily fling it out of the window when your frustration levels got too high, and still most likely fish it largely intact from your yard when you wanted to play it again. You can of course do that with this version, but I suspect its myriad of buttons (required to let you twizzle each virtual "segment" around) wouldn't survive the impact. You can at least play a couple of other digital games on this: a kind of Russian roulette minehunter for multiple players, a tic-tac-toe game and what could turn out to be a pretty difficult Simon-like game. But in general—nah. Some classics should be left undigitized.

Vehicle Gadget : Flyrad is one extreme motorized unicycle with rollerblades

Clearly, I am not “extreme” enough to try something like the Flyrad. I admit that I once had a skateboard, but I was never one of those Thrasher guys with sidewalk burns on their legs. I guess I always tried to be too safe on the board.
The Flyrad is made for those who really want to try something really risky, and you can see how it works. The user has a motorized unicycle which he or she keeps in front of him. This provides the propulsion required to move the rollerbladed user anywhere the pavement will take them.
Just think of it as water-skiing on land, but you are actually holding the boat in your hands. By the way, you can also sit on the motor unicycle, and ride it with the rollerblades, if you dare.
Man, this looks like something that I would see at skate parks, making the other skateboarders and rollerbladers look like wimps.
I don’t know what the Flyrad motor unicycle runs on, nor how fast it goes. Let’s just say that it is fast enough to get you hurt. I also don’t know how much this costs, or if there is any plan on putting the Flyrad into mass production.

Digital Picture Frame : GiiNii’s new 8-inch Digital Photo Frame

It has been a while since I reported on GiiNii Digital Photo Frame, and the 8-inch “All-in-One” True Video Picture Frame looks nearly identical to one I reviewed a while ago. It does have similar features like the 8-inch back-lit LED panel with 800 x 600 resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Pictures and videos can be loaded through the 6-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro, MS Duo, and xD-Picture), USB flash drive, or transferred directly from a computer via USB to mini-USB into the 2GB of internal memory.
It can support photos like JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, EXIF, and Progressive JPEG. It can also do audio like MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAVE, and, as an update on the last 8-inch frame, it can do MPEG-4 and AVC/H.264 video playback.
One thing that I like about this frame is the ease of controls, and it is able to create slideshows easily. Personalization seems to be key with this frame, as the user can put their pictures in scrapbooking templates, and set up their clock in a certain “skins” as well. These templates can also be created at the GiiNii site.
This digital picture frame should be available soon from Amazon and Staples for a price of $89.99 to $109.99. For those who are looking to purchase a digital picture frame as a gift, I would recommend this one.
